About Us
Utility Insource was founded in 2024 by Kevin Jones and Colin Heller. We previously ran a utility billing service that started in 2008. At the time, that company represented the biggest paradigm shift in utility management since water submetering in the 1990s. Conventional wisdom at the time was to require residents to put any direct metered utility accounts in their own name. Property operators only touched utility billing when submeters or RUBs was required. At our previous company, we taught the industry that there is significant value in keeping utilities in the property’s name all the time. This idea significantly reduced transfer costs for both residents and properties, simplified the resident experience, and gave control back to the property for the entire lifecycle of a resident. Today, we believe the next major shift in utility management is empowering operators to bring utilities in-house. At Utility Insource, we bring years of experience managing utility operations to help property operators take control of utilities in-house.
